The RFP process will help you establish specific performance standards appropriate for your organization, and to select the security officer service provider best suited to meet those standards. The contract must establish an environment that will promote the achievement of the desired results. The selected contractor must be able to demonstrate an understanding, and an application, of quality partnering skills and processes.
Keep in mind that you can specify many elements of a security program in your RFP to allow a true apples-to-apples comparison of providers. Request a full explanation of items like programs, training, benefits and management support to ensure that your requirements are met. The more specific you are about your needs and expectations, the better able you will be to compare one provider to another.
The following is a sample RFP to make your contracting process easier. While each RFP should be customized to an individual organizations needs, this document can serve as a guide to help you convey your expectations, and gather the necessary information from security service providers.
